about the me&thee |
There's a far more serious side to Williams's song craft, inspired by existential angst and social consciousness. Yet, fear and loathing aside, few of her peers write in the first person with as much wit, warmth and honesty.

Dar Williams's songs are personal, dynamic, and poignant. Her latest CD, "The Green World," is a collection of thoughtful short stories in song. Dar says of her writing: "I'm just holding up mirrors at interesting places. I'm trying to capture life at strange angles."
After graduating college in the early '90s, Dar began her music career on the Boston-Cambridge coffeehouse circuit. Before long she recorded her first CD, "The Honesty Room." Music critics had jumped on the Dar bandwagon by this point and the rave reviews began rolling in. The Chicago Tribune called her "emotionally present, politically earnest, a born storyteller with a self-effacing humor and armed with a voice that soars and rattles the bones."
Dar has been actively involved in many environmental and social justice movements, including her non-profit foundation, the Snowden Environmental Trust, which helps preserve wildlife habitats around the world. As a matter of fact, this show at the me&thee is a benefit, with proceeds to help the cause of Free Speech Radio and WBAI in New York City.
Please be aware that the show takes place on Sunday and begins at 8:00 p.m. We strongly urge you to reserve tickets by phone, as they are going fast!
