Karen Savoca and Pete Heitzman

K AREN AND PETE MET ON A STAGE quite a few years ago, and they’ve been making music together ever since. Their style is an elusive mix of all the music they love — modern folk influenced by pop, soul, rock, jazz, blues, and everything in between.

Karen’s songwriting “defies pigeonholing, save to say that all her songs are drenched with soul.” Though she’ll haunt you with a moving ballad, most of her narratives are “grounded in optimism and playfulness, giving despair a wide berth.” “She’s got a voice that can move cold stone,” and “sings with an inherent sense of fun, drawing the listener willingly into her world, an emotionally charged celebration of life with all its ups and downs.” Though she writes on a variety of instruments, in live performance Karen plays conga and hand percussion and loves to make people dance.

Pete is a “fiendishly good” guitarist, lyrical, funky and innovative. He plucks, bends and thwaps some astonishing textures and soundscapes from an acoustic guitar and longhorn bass. Both musicians are one-person bands; with Karen’s astounding voice on top, that’s a heck of a lot of music. You don’t want to miss them!

The sound that she’s making is so sexy, so spiritual, and so womanly. . . It’s the sound of the ages, not the sound of the X or the Next Generation, it’s the lineage of womankind.  PureMusic.com

. . .an addictive blend of hybrid pop with lots of jazz whimsy and slippery funk.   Dirty Linen

If you're reading this, you're probably using a very old browser like Netscape 4. Did you know that you can download a new browser that conforms to Web standards and displays pages as they are meant to be viewed? More than 90% of web users are using modern browsers, and the difference is significant. You can, of course, download Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com) or Netscape’s Communicator (http://www.netscape.com), which are free of charge but may not work on old computers. I suggest you give the Opera browser a try (http://www.opera.com). It's light, fast, and has a free version with all the features of the full version (just an advertising patch at the top). There's no need to lose out on so many of the visual and functional features of the web.  –Me&Thee webmaster
