Les Sampou represents the next generation ... taking the musical architecture and earthy imagery of the blues as tools with which to write her own very modern, very individual and very forceful music ... rock fired, lyrically fierce...

Les Sampou's music is called "eclectic" by many. She amazes and entices her audiences with her stories and her ear for detail. Her songs are about everyday life. Watching her perform is like taking a long car ride with an old friend who makes you laugh a lot and sometimes makes you cry.
Les learned her trade at the feet of one of New England's legendary bluesmen, Paul Rishell. She went on to release her first CD, "Sweet Perfume" in 1993 and attracted the attention of many music lovers. Sampou's latest CD, "Fall from Grace" (Flying Fish), is an interesting mix of acoustic blues and folk music. Produced by Marblehead's own Mason Daring, the CD was described by a critic as being the "real enchilada with a pitcher of Doublehook." A good description of an atypical folkie with a major case of blues going down.
