Every folk singer I know has either sung a Tom Paxton song, is singing a Tom Paxton song or will soon sing a Tom Paxton song. Now either all the folk singers are wrong, or Tom Paxton is one hell of a songwriter.

Many people not familiar with Tom Paxton's albums of the sixties think his "Rambling Boy," "Bottle of Wine," and "The Last Thing on My Mind" are traditional folk songs, they've become such a part of the repertory. Tom's great topical numbers such as "What Did You Learn in School Today" and "Lyndon Johnson Told the Nation" bring us back to that first credibility gap we became aware of, while "Goodman, Schwerner and Cheney" and "We Didn't Know" show how sharp and moving his songs could be. Then there's the Paxton of "Yuppies In the Sky" and all those great children's songs like "Goin' To The Zoo" and "The Marvelous Toy." Treat yourself to one of the great singer songwriters this Friday night, and hey -- bring the kids.
