Mustard's Retreat

Over the past 15 years we have presented over 40 children's programs and Mustard's Retreat was the best musical performance we have had.
Middlebury Festival on the Green

David Tamulevich and Michael Hough met slinging hash and other delicacies at a tavern in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1974. More than a quarter of a century later, they continue their association as Mustard's Retreat. The hash slingers turned folk singers named their act after one of their songs about a musican friend named Nancy Mustard melded with the traditional tune "Bonaparte's Retreat."
Well-respected as songwriters, they blend their original pieces with story-telling and an eclectic selection of works by other writers to create, in the words of one reviewer, "music to cure what ails you." (Michigan Times). They have found that special touch and elusive magic that brings audiences back again and again.
The duo's most recent recording, "The Wind and the Crickets," was produced by Canadian folk artist Garnet Rogers and includes the oft-requested songs "Gather the Family" and "Let's Hear it For the Volunteers." Sing Out! magazine calls this CD "landmark status... insightful and intricate with exquisite harmonies." It has received extensive airplay and includes the talents of Rogers, Lucy Kaplansky, Jennifer Kimball and Kitty Donohoe.
