Adam Ezra Group · Pesky J Nixon opens
The Adam Ezra Group has graduated from being at the top of the Boston music scene to breaking nationally in a big way. Adam Ezra’s passion for smart, well written lyrics combined with the band’s tight musicianship and powerful live performances are catching the ears of fans across the country. Local favorites Pesky J Nixon will open the show.
The Adam Ezra Group’s live show is now legendary as they ignite the stage with a captivating charisma that has often been compared to that of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. After winning the grand prize of a national competition with Pick The Band, the band was signed to a deal with independent record label Royal Avenue Music.
Ezra’s songs often revolve around the common thread of finding the courage to follow one’s own unique path through life. This thread is pulled from Adam’s life of traveling the world and helping others find their path and driving force through music and activism. Adam then admits to pushing his own boundaries of perspective with “Soldier,” a song from the point of view of an American serving in the Middle East. “As a political writer my thoughts are always with our brothers and sisters serving overseas. I spent some time volunteering for the relief effort in Kosovo where I was working side-by-side with Marines and UN peacekeepers. Also throughout the past decade of touring I have had the honor of connecting and talking to many of our service men and women. I am fascinated by the intensity they face every day, knowing that the worst could happen at any moment, even while performing the most routine tasks.”
The Group has been touring non-stop and packing venues across the country, including the Mercury Lounge in New York City, Shubas in Chicago, The Roxy in Los Angeles, The Belly Up in Aspen, and their now legendary, sold-out show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

With five years of melding and exploring Americana, traditional, and urban folk influences, Pesky J. Nixon has become one of those bands you can’t well shake out of your head. With tunes as catchy as their stage presence is endearing, these boys are winning fans straight up and down the East Coast. Their rich harmonies and musical versatility bring a unique brand of infectious energy and stage banter to every stage they grace.
At times putting on a show that borders on brotherly bickering, these boys specialize on bringing the audience into their world, songs, and stories. Together PJN creates a sound as varied as their adopted hometown of Boston — with international influences as strong as the Boston folk scene and the tempered rock beats of the side street “one bulb” venues. PJN’s long awaited second album, Monkey Business & Mislaid Hopes, brings the disparate sounds of southern, urban, produced, and informal folk together in a very impressive package.
