about the me&thee |
It's not so much what she said, but how she said it... Simply put, Stacey Earle is a magnetizing example of a person who is living her dream, walking her talk, doing exactly what she was born to do on this fine earth - no pretense, no fluff, no extemporaneous fanfare... Earle's music unlocks a gateway to bliss, a field of dormant potential, the disarming realization that the richness of life can and should be glimpsed now, today, in everything and everyone.

Nashville singer-songwriter Stacey Earle (sister of country rocker Steve Earle) is known for her thoughtful country-folk songs. She's definitely got her own style, which been described as a bridge between Nanci Griffith's sweetness and Gilian Welch's grounding grit. Her latest CD, "Dancin' With Them Who Brung Me," displays a great deal of confident singing, playing, and writing. She has many stories to tell. Earle's songs tell about her experiences as a teenage bride and later as a single mom. Now in her late 30s, Earle performs all over the country with her second husband, Mark Stuart, and sometimes with her son, Kyle.
Every song on "Simple Gearle," the CD that introduced Earle's refreshingly direct approach to songwriting, was recorded in one take, so the album has the feel of a live show. Earle produced the CD herself. She begged, borrowed, and bartered babysitting services in order to pay for its production. She is plain-spoken, humble and brutally honest, addressing the tough issues beneath the surface of love (lost, found, or frayed), friendship, duty, responsibility and family loyalty.
