New Black Eagle Jazz Band
THE NEW BLACK EAGLE JAZZ BAND HAS BEEN PLAYING TOGETHER for over 30 years. Arguably the best traditional jazz band in the world, every show is a joyous and magical celebration. Their 600-song repertoire, which has taken them all over the world, features New Orleans jazz, classic songs from the Twenties, Thirties and Forties, and gives special attention to Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Jelly Roll Morton.

The Black Eagles are considered pioneers for their research and performances of many less familiar tunes from the classic jazz era. The ensemble expertly executes complex arrangements of tunes in a dynamic style, propelled with superb taste and musicianship.

The Eagles have made over 25 recordings, “Mister Moon” being their most recent. For their Christmas album, the band explores thirteen Yuletide classics. “Tannenbaum” evolves from a waltz to a stomp and eventually “March of the Bobcats” (the chord structure is the same); “Blue Christmas” already sounds like a standard, with Billy Novick’s alto sax performing the rarely-played verse of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”; “Jingle Bells” really swings and even the vocals (three by Pringle and one by Pilsbury) work quite well. With not too much urging from their devoted December fans, we can make this a real trad (jazz) Christmas!

The key ingredient in all the Black Eagles music is soulful quality. Relying on a powerful sense of dynamics, dramatic ensemble interplay and driving rhythm, the band ranges over the entire emotional spectrum from hushed intimacy to brawling uproariousness, with stops at every point in between. Each of the seven members of the group has a strong musical personality, which can be expressed either individually, or as one voice of the rich and varied ensemble choruses the Black Eagles are famed for. They draw their repertoire from the entire spectrum of New Orleans music.  www.hotsteamedjazz.com/

If you're reading this, you're probably using a very old browser like Netscape 4 or backward software like AOL’s. Did you know that you can download a new browser that conforms to Web standards and displays pages as they are meant to be viewed? More than 90% of web users are using modern browsers, and the difference is significant. You can, of course, download Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com) or Netscape’s Communicator (http://www.netscape.com), which are free of charge but may not work on old computers. I suggest you give the Opera browser a try (http://www.opera.com). It's light, fast, and has a free version with all the features of the full version (just an advertising patch at the top). There's no need to lose out on so many of the visual and functional features of the Web.  –Me&Thee webmaster
